Hello friends, If you’ve been keeping an eye on the Indian automotive scene, you might have noticed something exciting brewing in the Skoda-Volkswagen camp. March 2025 turned out to be a blockbuster month for the Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Group (SAVWIPL), and it’s not just about numbers—it’s about a comeback, a growing connection with customers, and a new star on the roads.
The group clocked a stunning 10,960 units in combined sales for March 2025. That’s not just a random figure—it represents a powerful 73.12% jump compared to March 2024 when they sold 6,331 units. Clearly, more Indian customers are choosing to drive home a Skoda or a Volkswagen, and there’s one major reason behind this leap—the all-new Skoda Kylaq.
Kylaq Steals the Spotlight for Skoda
Let’s talk about the Kylaq—Skoda’s bold entry into the competitive sub-4-meter SUV market. It only hit the showrooms in January, but it’s already rewriting the brand’s story in India. In March alone, the Kylaq sold 5,327 units, contributing a lion’s share to Skoda’s overall 7,422 domestic sales. That’s a massive 164.88% increase from March 2024’s 2,802 units. And if you compare it with February 2025’s 5,583 units, it still shows a healthy 32.94% month-on-month growth.
People are loving the Kylaq’s fresh design, compact yet aggressive stance, and the value it brings in a segment where choices are many but true winners are few. It’s more than just a car—it’s a statement for Skoda, and Indian buyers are clearly taking notice.
Slavia and Kushaq: Holding Their Own
While the Kylaq is grabbing all the headlines, Skoda’s other models continue to make their presence felt. The Slavia sedan saw a slight dip year-on-year, going from 1,358 units in March 2024 to 1,185 in March 2025. But the silver lining? It grew a strong 31.52% from February’s 901 units, signaling a rise in interest in the premium sedan space.
The Kushaq, on the other hand, saw a decline. It managed 897 units this March, down from 1,293 last year and 1,035 in February. Despite the dip, it still remains a key part of Skoda’s portfolio, especially in a market where compact SUVs are always in demand.
Volkswagen’s Steady March – Virtus and Taigun Shine
Over on the Volkswagen side, things were steady and encouraging. The brand ended March 2025 with 3,538 units, a slight 0.26% rise over March 2024, but a solid 13.76% month-on-month increase from February’s 3,110 units. What really helped were the consistent performers—Virtus and Taigun.
The Virtus sedan was the leader here, selling 1,947 units in March 2025. That’s a nice 5.41% bump from the 1,847 units in March 2024 and a small but steady 5.99% increase from February. It continues to attract those who crave sophistication, practicality, and performance.
Not far behind was the Taigun, Volkswagen’s compact SUV, with 1,590 units sold—almost unchanged from last March but up a strong 25.10% from February 2025. That kind of month-on-month surge shows that the Taigun is gaining momentum again, perhaps thanks to refreshed demand and customer-friendly finance offers.
Premium Segment Faces Challenges

The premium SUV segment didn’t have much to cheer about. The Skoda Kodiaq and Volkswagen Tiguan barely moved the needle. Kodiaq posted just 13 units, down sharply from last year’s 136. The Tiguan managed only 1 unit in March, a far cry from 94 last March. As luxurious as they may be, these SUVs are clearly facing an uphill climb in a price-sensitive market.
A Big Win for SAVWIPL
All said and done, March 2025 will go down as a milestone month for Skoda and Volkswagen in India. With a strong total of 10,960 units and over 26% growth from February’s 8,693 units, the signs are clear—Indian car buyers are welcoming these brands with open arms.
The Kylaq has been the game-changer, but the overall synergy between stylish sedans like Virtus and Slavia, and solid SUVs like Taigun and Kylaq, has created the perfect mix. It’s an exciting time for Skoda and VW lovers, and if this momentum continues, 2025 might just be their best year yet.
So, whether you’re eyeing a new ride or just love auto industry stories—keep an eye on this space. The roads are changing, and Skoda-VW is accelerating fast into a very bright future!
